Electricity consumption in Malaysia has doubled in the past 20 year leading to a significant increase in the CO2 emissions from electricity generated index.
About 80% of the electricity comes from non-renewable sources, which are mainly fossil fuels.
Electricity generation is definitely one of the leading sources of greenhouse emissions as burning fossil fuels releases lots of CO2 into the atmosphere which accelerates climate change. đâ The electricity and heat sector in Malaysia generated 118.5 million tonnes of CO2 in 2016.
What can we do?
